It’s with a heavy heart that we have to announce that Plush will be closing its doors on sundays once again, and with it, goes the MACHINE. This Sunday, October, 28th marks the last MACHINE party that will be hosted at Plush, so please, let’s make it a good one.

We’ve had some high marks and some low points (obviously a few to many), but above all, I think we’ve all had some fun. That being said, fear not, the MACHINE is only on hiatus, it’s time for us to find a new home and a new night. stay tuned and t

We’re opening Plush every Sunday to unleash a barrage of slomo, psychedelic, and balearic treats that will tickle your boogie feather, unleash your innermost inhibitions, and make you sleep with strangers.

Join us this Sunday to celebrate the release of Abstrakt Audio’s “Apollonia EP” on Whiskey Pickle coming to fine download stores worldwide on November 5th.
Austin’s Whiskey Pickle label presents the debut release from Abstrakt Audio, a project created by south Texas native Fern Argüello. Producing since the age of 15, starting with a Roland TR–909 and a banged-up Juno–60 synthesizer, Fern has always been drawn to the sounds of eighties boogie and Italo disco thanks to his father’s hip record collection. Previously, Fern was a part of production duo Retrovox with Rey Aguilar, releasing a number of tracks for PBR Recordings and playing shows and festivals all over Texas and Mexico. With a recent move to Austin, Fern finally goes solo with Abstrakt Audio and fully embraces his Italo-boogie roots with these two funk-fueled tracks. The single leads with “Apollonia” which could easily have been heard pumping out of boom boxes and ghetto blasters on Minneapolis’ back streets during the heyday of the Purple Reign. The flip side, “Nu Funk,” features dubbed out chords and a sternum-rattling bass line. The tune builds on a simple, yet effective progression that is sure to please boogie fans and house heads alike. Two crucial cuts here with serious ‘let’s-get-this-party-started’ potential … Whiskey Pickle once again delivers the quality DJ goods!

Aitor Etxebarria aka El_Txef_A, is a 27 year-old producer from Bilbao, Spain. After releasing music on well-known labels like Hypercolour, Suol, and Permanent Vacation, he is now working hard on his own label called Fiakun.  We’re honored to present to you yet again the unique musical talent of El_Txef_A. Since returning to his home of Bilbao after last year’s tour, El_Txef_A has been incredibly busy producing countless edits, remixes, original tracks and collaborations, while joining one of the premier booking agencies and touring extensively through Europe. Born and raised in McAllen, Texas, Rey Aguilar started DJing at the young age of 12. Being influenced by the early 90’s of hip-hop and the beginning stages of house music. At 17, Rey held many residencies in McAllen, and also Monterrey, Mexico playing alongside a host of different DJs such as Chris Fortier, Justin Martin, Subb-an, Luca Bacchetti, John Acquaviva, Steve Porter, J.Phlip, Danny Daze, Tanner Ross, Worthy and Lazaro Casanova. Rey soon began dabbling around with music production programs aiming on his own tracks. One of his edits he did of Norm Talley – The Journey has gotten big support from Cocoons and Poker Flat’s, Argy. More work and original productions began to get notice from more prominent names and soon after signed his first EP of music to Chris Fortier’s Fade Records, and then to Lazaro Casanova’s petFood from Miami. Rey’s productions has gotten support from the likes of John Digweed, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Chris Fortier, Maetrik (Maceo Plex), Dave Seaman, Crazy P., Thugfucker & Andrew Grant just to name a few. A name that continues to gain attention across the international electronic music circuit is dj and producer jozif. The born and bred London artist has worked his way to what is now undisputed success with typical (to those that know him) ‘jozif swagger’; passionate, determined and wildly talent driven. Charming the pants off both the dance floor with his dj sets and the record industry via his productions; jozif’s infectious presence and low slung grooves continue to define him as a stand out artist.

Breaking through with stellar force in 2010 with releases on Wolf + Lamb, Vitalik and an RA podcast mixed entirely of his own productions and edits; mass support from industry and public alike paved the way for the launch of jozif’s limited edition label Fist or Finger alongside Craig Richards. Featuring jozif’s dance floor A-side’s and Craig’s experimental reinterpretations on the flip, their debut release ‘Beats In Space’ was an instant sell out, their second ‘Brick Jane’ following suit and 2012’s ‘Room 3’ is set to do the same. Cementing things in 2011 with the ‘Sunrise’ EP on InFiné followed by a slew of remixes and re-works for the likes of Compost, Mobilee and Suol, Shonky,
Rui Da Silva and Til von Sein; jozif has undoubtedly secured himself as an in- demand and talented remixer. Tying up 2011 with ‘Twilight’ alongside Roc-A- Fella signed r&b and soul singer/songwriter Terri Walker on More Music; jozif once again emphasized his musical diversity.

That diversity is catalyst to continued recognition and support from the likes of Damian Lazarus, Steve Lawler, Andrew Weatherall, Art Department and Droog, all of whom have all fallen hook line and sinker for jozif’s quirky and impossible to pigeon hole beats. Sculpting a soundtrack that weaves through loose and lazy drum patterns, wiggly b-lines and dramatic strings, jozif’s productions are tinged with slo-mo ambience and a rolling undercurrent of funk that not only resonates with our musical heart strings, but evokes the
dirtiest bump and grit of a twisted 6am dance floor.

2012 and jozif’s upcoming ‘Standard Rising’ EP on Culprit follows ‘The Lady BEP’; noted for its sonically rich palette and supported by many including Radio 1’s Pete Tong. With a Crosstown Rebels release set to drop imminently and his debut mix CD to come before the end of the year; it’s safe to say the jozif show has only just begun. Not only towing the underground line with regular appearances at London’s fabric, Paris’s Rex and Berlin’s Watergate; but recognition from those that fall into pioneering category has come thick and fast.
